(DAILYMAIL) — Tim Rice has mounted a scathing attack on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s plans to find a new lead for their musical Jesus Christ Superstar through a TV talent show.

The lyricist branded the idea ‘tasteless’ and ‘tacky’, and complained his former writing partner isn’t taking his concerns seriously.

Lord Lloyd-Webber has announced plans to take the musical on a nationwide arena tour – and to search for the lead in an ITV1 series called Superstar.
