If you listen to the Muslim Brotherhood-front group known as the Council on American Islamic Relations, you would think so-called “hate crimes” against followers of Islam are at epidemic proportions.

And you can’t help but listen to CAIR if you watch cable television news or read reports in the mainstream media. CAIR officials are their darling go-to personalities whenever the subject of Islam is reported or discussed. In fact, CAIR is usually billed as a “Muslim civil rights organization,” a complete misnomer.

It is the equivalent of the paid, political voice of the terrorist group Hamas operating with inexplicable impunity within the U.S., despite the fact that it has been named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorist fundraising trial in American history.

Yet, every year, CAIR issues its bogus reports about the way Muslims in the U.S. are systematically abused for merely practicing their faith conscientiously while hurting and threatening no one. The media dutifully and unquestioningly report it.

Nothing could be further from the truth, and the 2010 FBI statistics, as they do every year, put the lie to CAIR’s claims. What they reveal is the opposite. Religious-bias crimes reported to the agency totaled 1,409 in 2010. Of that total, only 13.2 percent were anti-Islamic.

With the Muslim immigrant population soaring and getting close to the American Jewish population, one might expect some backlash. But the data show it has been negligible for the last 10 years.

Meanwhile, the real shocker is completely ignored by CAIR and the news media. Of the total number of reported “hate crimes” based on religion, 65.4 percent are anti-Jewish.

Worse yet, there’s a pattern here. Just as the number of attacks on Jews in Europe escalates, so it does in the U.S. as well.

Why would that be?

Why is no one talking about that?

Jews suffered a Holocaust in Europe a generation ago. The rest of the world turned its back on the Jews as half their population was systematically exterminated in a few short years. There is no such equivalent of persecution in modern history for Islam – at least not in terms of victimhood. Most of the religious persecution in the world today is being conducted in the name of Islam – against Jews, Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and even other Muslims.

Where is CAIR in its denunciations of this wholesale slaughter?

Most of the Christian population of the Middle East has already been scattered. I am part of that dispersion. Now Islam’s deadly focus is on the largest remnant of Jews in the world in the tiny state of Israel – the survivors of the Holocaust.

The fanciful tales of oppression and injustice told by CAIR and repeated ad nauseam in the U.S. media represent a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black.

The FBI statistics suggest America, despite uncontrolled immigration patterns that are not in line with historical U.S. melting-pot traditions and values, remains exceptionally tolerant despite an increasingly large influx of recent immigrants of the Muslim faith – even at a time when the economy has been suffering and Americans are fighting to keep their jobs and their heads above water financially.

But the constant baseless finger-pointing by CAIR, coupled with its own moral blindness toward the real-world offenses of its jihadist sponsors and collaborators, can only serve to make America less tolerant toward Muslims.

After all, the world is rife with religious bigotry and persecution – most of it at the hands of Islamists.

As Jesus, a Jew with more followers in the world today than any other, suggested to his Jewish brethren: “Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.”

It’s too bad CAIR missed that memo – and the hapless media, too.
