Germany’s plan to put a million electric cars on the road by 2020 is unlikely to do much for the environment without a dramatic increase in renewable energy, the daily Tageszeitung reported on Monday.

Citing an Environment Ministry survey, the paper said the drive towards e-mobility will
actually worsen climate change at first by expending vast amounts of energy to create the new vehicles and the infrastructure they require.
